Everyone Deserves to Be Seen and Heard

When I first started at Matthews Hope Ministries two years ago, I had no idea what being homeless meant. Don’t get me wrong, I saw homeless people everywhere just like all of us do, but I never really looked at what it really meant to be homeless. Being at Matthews Hope has taught me love, compassion, and not to judge my fellow man.

Each week our staff and volunteers goes out into the community to collect dirty laundry or deliver fresh laundry. Our Mobile team provides nonperishable foods, hygiene items and clothing. Each person I meet is an individual with a story. I take great pride in being part of a team that goes out twice a week to find and feed the homeless. I see how they live and the conditions that they live in. I pray that I show them compassion, love and dignity. Everyone deserves to be seen and heard. That’s why I serve!
